Lunch Hour Photo Walk

I was lucky enough to have three coworkers who are also into photography hang out today and take photos at lunch. We just wandered around Beale Street Landing on Riverside Drive for about 45 minutes. It was a brisk 55 degrees and we’re a tropical people, so we got chilly. We also got some great shots. I decided to see what I could do with the Fujifilm X-T20 and shadows since it was high-noon.

It’s funny, I usually find BSL a boring place to shoot, but largely because I nearly always go there alone and when it’s winter. This time I had my band of fellow photogs with me and we had great conversation and inspiration — I found myself looking back and seeing them take photos, me exclaiming “dang, that’s a great idea for a shot, wish I’d thought of it!”

I also really like the Fujifilm ACROS black and white emulation on this camera. Paired with the awesome EVF it produces very nice JPEGs. These shots are all straight out of the camera. I did a little exposure adjustment in Snapseed because I underexposed a bit.

I also like the 16-50mm kit lens that comes with this camera, and I’m torn whether I’d opt for a prime or not. This lens takes sharp photos and its only real drawback is it’s not a fast lens — but it gets the job done.

I dig these photo walks. As the weather cools, I hope to have more adventures. I think we’ll all be hitting Mud Island for lunch one day, too!
